5 Spring High Point Market Trends I Love

One of my favorite things about High Point Market is seeing the new trends in furniture and décor. There is always so much to see, but never enough time. It can be overwhelming if you don’t have a plan. It’s impossible to see everything!

Even though I wasn’t able to visit all of the showrooms I “favorited” on the High Point Market app, I was able to hit some really amazing ones. Plus, it’s just an excuse to add the missed ones to my strategy for Fall Market later this year (wink, wink).

I saw so many trends and vendors debut a lot of their new collections, but for the sake of time and less strain on your eyes, I narrowed it down to my top five faves (which was extremely hard to do). Ready? Here they are:

1. Sexy curves.

Yes, I am a sucker for clean lines. That linear, sleek look is my thing…but seeing all those curves in sofas, sectionals, chairs, and tables just hit differently! My favorite pieces were the Sofa Bjorn from Eicholtz and Universal Furniture’s Serenity Sofa from the Miranda Kerr Tranquility Collection. The curvature of these pieces breaks up all the straight lines we typically see in a modern space. It adds interest and movement to the room. The “ball” throw pillows give it a fun look too!

2. Hair on Hide.

Although not a new trend, this look is still going strong. This is a great texture to add to any design, whether it’s in a living room or bedroom. Hair on hide is a great choice if you want to incorporate leather in a space but want a more textured feel, versus the smoothness and buttery feel of traditional leather. It comes in warmer and cooler tones depending on the vibe you’re going for. My favorite pieces were the Hudson Cross Ottoman from Alder and Tweed, the Laredo Ottoman from Surya, and the Garrett Accent Chair from Universal Furniture.

3. Acrylic.

This material seems to be everywhere! You see it in furniture legs and the backs and arms of chairs. Some pieces can be completely acrylic too. I love using acrylic in a space because it’s not visually “heavy”. Because it’s translucent, it makes a room feel lighter and open. I also really like how it can add a touch of glam to a design. It mimics the look of crystal so it can really elevate a space. There’s something about acrylic that says “I’m so fresh and so clean”! My favorites were the Aerial Cocktail Table and Jolie Chair from Universal Furniture. Although I didn’t get a picture I the showroom, I really loved the Angelina Swivel Chair from Bernhardt Furniture.

4. Natural/Organic.

Pieces made of natural materials are very much still in play. My guess is that it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. People are still wanting that natural feel in their homes. They crave the connection to nature and their outdoor living space to be seamless with their indoor living space. Materials such as cane, rattan, wicker, wood, and linen fabric was a consistent theme that I scoped out. The use of neutrals such as tan, brown, beige, white, and cream colors were everywhere. My favorite pieces were the Rafferty Lounge Chair from Arteriors and the Teak Root Console and a one-of-a-kind design from Phillips Collection. Now that’s definitely bringing the outdoors in!

5. Channel style.

This style is not new either but I kept seeing it y’all. There’s something about this look that incorporates the sexy curves I continued to see throughout Market. You could see it in accent chairs, benches, and headboards. It’s a clean, modern look that gives a high-end feel to a space. If you’re not familiar with this style, simply put…channel tufting is made up of equally spaced vertical or horizontal channels that are created and then filled with their own piece of stuffing or foam, creating a plush effect in that particular piece of furniture. I look at it as a modern take of the more traditional tufting we’ve seen in headboards and accent chairs. My favorites were the channeled accent chair from Alder and Tweed, Universal Furniture’s Channeled Accent Chair from the Miranda Kerr Tranquility Collection, and the stunning Bench Oxley from Eicholtz.

So, what do you think? Do you like these trends? Do you see these looks in your design inspiration or on Instagram? It was very difficult to only identify five trends when there were so many more I saw! But if I include all of them, this blog post would turn into a dissertation and I know you don’t have time for all of that.

I really enjoyed sharing some of the really beautiful products on display during Market! The photos don’t even do them justice. But I hope you enjoyed the glimpses of these amazing furnishings. Perhaps it gave you more inspiration and ideas of how you would like your home to look. Maybe you’ve been wanting to switch things up a bit because you’ve had the same furniture in your home for 20 years, but you just didn’t know what was out there. In any case, my objective was to inspire you!
